This week my clinic celebrates 8 years in business. Even writing that still feels surreal.
What started as a dream, an idea, and a lot of hope has grown into something I’m actually incredibly proud of. But like most journeys worth taking, it hasn’t been easy.
Running a business isn’t just about the wins you share online. It’s about the early mornings, the late nights, the moments of doubt, the sacrifices, the constant learning, and the resilience you build along the way.
Looking back the early years, they were full of passion and pressure. Learning everything from scratch, wearing every hat, and figuring things out as I went. There were moments of excitement and moments of fear. Times when I questioned whether I was doing the right thing or whether I was enough.
Being in the business while also trying to run the business is one of the hardest things to juggle. You’re delivering services, managing clients, running social media. Handling admin, finances, decisions, all while trying to keep showing up with a smile.
It’s exhausting. And it’s real and anyone in business reading this will totally get it.
Over the years, there have been challenges that tested me more than I ever expected. Especially last year. Growth, setbacks, changes, pressure, responsibility and situations totally out of my control. Learning how to navigate them without losing myself in the process was a job in itself.
But those challenges are also where the growth happens. They teach resilience, adaptability, and strength you didn’t know you had. Every hard moment shaped the business I have today. I am sitting here writing this reflecting with Elsie laying on my lap giving me a cuddle and Archie still asleep tucked up in his lovely warm bed. I have started the year attempting the 5am club so the first hour of each day is spent on admin and setting myself up for the day ahead. It is actually a really powerful hour. If you are reading this and are in business you must read Robin Sharma 5am club.
For every tough day, there have been moments that made it all worthwhile. Seeing clients gain confidence. Watching results unfold. Being trusted with someone’s skin journey. Knowing that what we do genuinely makes a difference in how people feel about themselves. That’s the part I’ll never take for granted.
I love my job because it allows me to connect with people. It allows me to make a difference. Helping clients feel comfortable in their own skin, and to be part of their journey, whether that’s confidence, healing, or simply a little time for themselves.
I’m also endlessly grateful for the incredible team of girls at the clinic. A business is nothing without the people behind it. I’m so lucky to work alongside women who care deeply about our clients, our standards, and each other. Their dedication, kindness, and professionalism make the clinic what it is. That also goes for the team outside the clinic, such as my business coach Ash, new accountant Sam and my networking family. I couldn’t do this without any of them.
I’m also grateful for every client, To every client who has walked through our doors, past, present, and future, thank you.
Thank you for trusting us. For supporting a small business, for recommending us, for returning, and for allowing us to be part of your journey. Whether you’ve been with us since the beginning or you’re yet to visit us for the first time, you’re the reason my business exists.
It has always been vital that I never forget my why because believe me, last year I was ready to give up – Those that have followed my journey will know that my machine dilemma nearly ended it all.
Through all the highs and lows, I’ve never forgotten my why. My children. They are the centre of my world and my vision board.
They are the reason I keep going, the reason I push through the hard days, and the reason I continue to grow. Everything I do is to build a life I’m proud of, for them and for myself. They remind me why this journey matters.
Looking Ahead – 8 years in, I’m still learning, still growing, still evolving. And I’m excited for what’s to come for the clinic, for my team, for my clients, and for the next chapter of this crazy journey called “business”.
If there’s one thing this journey has taught me, it’s this: Success isn’t just measured in numbers. It’s measured in impact, growth, resilience, and gratitude.
I’m so grateful.
Thank you for being part of this journey, thank you for reading my blog and a big Happy Birthday to me, Amy Jayne Aesthetics <3
